The Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas, is located in the vibrant city of Houston with four branch offices operating in Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Laredo and McAllen. The district employs fifty-eight Assistant Federal Public Defenders, sixteen investigators and forty support staff members. The district also has three Computer Systems Administrators district-wide who keep the offices current with the latest technology, as well as assist in high tech cases. The caseload consists of offenses involving narcotics, fraud, bank robbery, counterfeiting, theft, immigration and civil rights violations, pornography, assault on federal property, and homicides. |
