FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER
Southern District of Texas
COMPASSIONATE RELEASE
CJA Panel Training
Thursday, February 4, 2021

The Federal Public Defender presents a brown bag lunch.  The First Step Act of 2018 authorized district courts to grant “compassionate release” sentence reductions to defendants who file motions showing extraordinary and compelling reasons for relief. This presentation will educate attendees on that law and provide practical advice for filing and winning compassionate release motions.

The State Bar of Texas MCLE Department has approved this seminar for 1.0 hrs of CLE credit (Course No. 174110189). There is no cost for participants or for those attorneys wishing to apply for the CLE credit. If you have any questions, contact Dora Madrigal at This email address is being protected from spambots.
