Electronic Courtroom Presentation
August 1-3, 2019
Lake Buena Vista, Florida

The Defender Services Office, Training Division (DSO-TD) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2019 Law & Technology Series: Electronic Courtroom Presentation. It will take place August 1-3, 2019, at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista in Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830. The hotel is across the street from Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney.

The Law & Technology Series: Electronic Courtroom Presentation Workshop (ECP) exposes CJA panel and federal public/community defender attorneys and professional staff to the legal, strategic, and technological considerations involved with electronically presenting information in a federal courtroom during trial and hearings. This two-and-a-half-day program uses a combination of plenary presentations and small group, hands-on instruction. In the smaller breakout groups, attendees will practice direct and cross-examination, opening statements, and closing arguments, using Trial Director and PowerPoint software which are well suited for electronically presenting information in the courtroom.

To best participate at this program, all attendees are required to bring their own laptop computer and strongly encouraged to bring their own case materials (hearing/trial, small/large). In order to be considered for admission, all applicants are required to fill-out and submit a short skill set survey before their registration request is completed. NOTE: The litigation support software programs used in this workshop are designed to work on Windows operating systems (as opposed to Mac). Thus, if accepted, you must bring a laptop running Windows, or a Mac laptop running a virtualized copy of Windows.

ECP is designed for, and attendance is limited to federal defender attorneys/staff, CJA panel attorneys, and other legal professionals that provide work under the Criminal Justice Act. There is no tuition, and materials will be provided to participants free of charge. ECP will begin Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., and will end around noon on Saturday, August 3, 2019. Participants are expected to stay for the entire program. For questions about the substance of the workshop, please contact George Couture at This email address is being protected from spambots.
